Resume
I graduate high school and attend university at the University of British Columbia, studying pre-med psychology and neuroscience. On the side, I found a music company with friends from school to manage local artists and host events akin to the "boiler room" model present in the UK.
We are managing 9 artists across physical media, music, and dance. We put on a quarterly immersive entertainment show featuring music, art, and dance from our portfolio of artists.
I realize that medicine is not my calling. The words “be a doctor” lose their appeal, and I drop out of UBC to pursue business and the arts with our own music studio in Burlingame, California. Enter the genesis of Fanfare Entertainment.
While operating our platform for digital music distribution run out of our recording studio, we meet with the manager for Keith Urban, and pivot to build Keith Urban’s Official App.
We sell the studio to finance our pivot and lean into the full production of the Keith Urban App.
The Keith Urban App shows wild success for us, with over 5 million downloads, and a peak DAU of around 500k.
We expand our product offerings to make official apps for Bryan Adams, Heart, Jim Shore, and Redneck Nation.
We are approached by an opportunity for another huge pivot. It turns out that our backend platform is almost a perfect 1-to-1 analog for healthcare data storage and analytics. Fanfare Entertainment is acquired and transitions to Apollo Health. I exit, after ensuring an effective transition, to pursue my own passions.
The COVID pandemic, and my exit, allow me the freedom to explore my passions and interests in a way I never had the opportunity to before. I fulfill a childhood dream of becoming a professional video game player, and win a world championship in a game called Echo Arena. I also begin the process of finishing my college degree, which I had abandoned all those years ago. Instead of medicine, I realize my true passion is for business development, growth, and ideation.
I graduate cum laude with a BS in business administration, however I realize there is still so much more to learn. I self-study topics like machine learning, blockchain, kubernetes, and venture capital. I realize that my true calling is through venture capital, and that my passion in life is helping others to build their businesses. I apply to further study with an MBA as well as an MS in Finance.
I am accepted into both programs and allowed to pursue two master's degrees in tandem. I fully immerse myself in academia.
I secure my dream internship with Techstars, and finally have the opportunity to help founders build their dreams. I have the opportunity to work with two brilliant founders working on extraordinarily novel solutions to problems I had never considered. I am also given the opportunity to be the managing partner of the business school’s venture capital fund.
I graduate from both the MBA and the MS in Finance in the top percentage of my class. I win the national case competition hosted by the business school based on my valuation and strategic plan for an acquisition of a private tech company for Boeing.
